"Russell Kulsrud has written an outstanding text that should raise the appreciation of plasma astrophysics within the general astronomy community at a time when the influence of plasma processes on what we observe is recognized to be of paramount importance."--Roger D. Blandford, Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, Stanford University

"Perhaps the most important feature of this book is its pedagogical approach: its emphasis of physical understanding over detailed mathematics. Simple estimates and examples are given instead of rigorous derivations (rigorous results are then quoted). The writing is colloquial and accessible. This is an excellent approach, and it helps demystify a complex subject. Indeed, it is an approach that is lacking in many existing texts in the field.

Transport Phenomena in Partially Ionized Plasma by Vladimir A. Rozhansky, ISBN 9056990381

Transport phenomena in plasmas are the relatively slow process of particle, momentum and energy transport in systems in a state of mechanical equilibrium. In contrast to neutral gases, these phenomena in plasmas are greatly influenced by self-consistent fields in particular electric fields. These can produce particle and energy fluxes, in addition to those generated by the homogeneity of the plasma composition and temperature. As a result, the physical effects accompanying transport phenomena in plasmas are far more numerous and complicated than those in neutral gases, and the solution of corresponding problems is more difficult. The effects however, are usually far more interesting and sometimes surprising.

Presenting a systematic survey and analysis of the main mechanism of transport phenomena in plasma this book also gives examples of gradually increasing complexity to illustrate these mechanisms and the relationships between them. Special attention is paid to the analysis of experimental...

Principles of Magnetohydrodynamics by J. P. Goedbloed, ISBN 0521626072

This volume describes the two main applications of plasma physics--laboratory research on thermo-nuclear fusion energy and plasma astrophysics of the solar system and stars and accretion disks--from the single viewpoint of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). This approach provides effective methods and insights for the interpretation of plasma phenomena on virtually all scales, ranging from the laboratory to the universe. The text will be of value to senior-level undergraduates and graduate students in physics, astrophysics and magnetohydrodynamics. Principles of Magnetohydrodynamics by J. P. The Science and Practice of Welding: Welding Science and Technology by A. C. Davies, ISBN 0521435668

The Science and Practice of Welding, now in its tenth edition and published in two volumes, is an introduction to the theory and practice of welding processes and their applications. Volume 2, The Practice of Welding, is a comprehensive survey of the welding methods in use today and gives up-to-date information on all types of welding methods and tools. Processes described include manual metal arc welding (MMA or SMAW); gas shielded metal arc welding (MIG, MAG or GMAW); tungsten inert gas shielded welding (TIG or GTAW) and plasma arc (PA) and cutting. Resistance, flash butt and oxy-acetylene welding are also included. Cutting processes are given a separate chapter. This new edition has been brought right up-to-date with a new chapter on the welding of plastics, and new sections on the welding of duplex stainless steel and air plasma cutting. The text is illustrated by up-to-date photographs of plant and equipment. As in previous editions, the appendices bring together a wealth of essential... Discounted Cash Flow

Firm valuation is currently a very exciting topic. It is interesting for those economists engaged in either practice or theory, particularly for those in finance. The literature on firm valuation recommends logical, quantitative methods, which deal with establishing today`s value of future free cash flows. In this respect firm valuation is identical with the calculation of the discounted cash flow, DCF. There are, however, different coexistent versions, which seem to compete against each other.
